M.D. Atkins, M.F. Boer, in Application of Thermo-Fluidic Measurement Techniques, Background. Thermochromic liquid crystal (TLC) is a substance that exhibits a definite color at a specific temperature. This feature has been explored by many researchers to study the heat transfer characteristics of surfaces. The idea of introducing new, modern and consequently often more demanding topics seems therefore completely obsolete. However, in this contribution I argue that this is not the case and that introduction of a new Liquid crystals are organic materials, which have an additional state of matter between the liquid state and the solid state.

However if such group is present then we can treat them as liquid crystals. And it doesn't matter whether we have only one phase (mesogen in vacuume) or more than one (lyotropic liquid crystals), however, in this case, only one of them is treated as liquid crystals mesogen , 13 April (UTC) Technical flag gone, okay?

Featuring topics that seldom appear in current literature, these volumes represent an ideal introduction and a valuable source of reference for theoretical and experimental studies of advanced students and researchers in liquid crystals, condensed matter physics, and materials science. A survey is given about the dynamics of thermotropic calamitic liquid crystals mainly based on own results and also on data obtained in cooperation with the Budapest LC group. The main problems under discussion are the glass process, local motions, the influence of the phase structure and the surroundings on the dielectric relaxation times.
